William Libbey collection of New Jersey documents, 1790-1857.

Consists of fifty-two New Jersey documents collected by Libbey (Princeton Class of 1877), the bulk of which are deeds representing the counties of Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset, and Hunterdon and the towns of Princeton, Rocky Hill, Montgomery, and Lawrence.

A graduate of Princeton (Class of 1877), Libbey was appointed assistant professor of physical geography and director of the Museum of Geology and Archaeology at Princeton in 1880, and in 1883 he became a full professor. He was correspondence secretary of the American Geographical Society, a fellow of various geographical societies, and a leader and member of several scientific expeditions, including Robert E.
